The beginning of May also served as the beginning of our new chapter as residents of Georgetown, Texas. For the most part we hit the ground running...
Georgetown, Texas is located thirty miles north of Austin, spans approximately twenty-five square miles, and is split by Interstate-35. Although at the extreme northern reaches, Georgetown is still considered part of the Texas Hill Country, but travel any further north or east and you'll hit the plains.
We live on the west side of Georgetown, close to the famed retirement destination, "Sun City," where older folks go to be young again; and Lake Georgetown, a Army Corps of Engineers lake, home to several parks, lots of hiking trails, and host to many future good times.
Georgetown was formed in March of 1848 and is the county seat of Williamson County. It is known for the location of Southwestern University, the oldest university in Texas (founded in 1840), the San Gabriel river, the Blue Hole, Inner Space Cavern, a strong sense of community, and the current home of Nolan Ryan... okay maybe that doesn't make us famous, but it's one of the few famous people I could verify in residence.
We like it because it has numerous parks, play grounds, fun things to do and most importantly, is only a twenty-five minute drive to Alan's fire station. It is also only a thirteen minute drive to the Round Rock Outlets and Ikea... not that those compare, just random facts :)
So far so good. We are learning a lot about our new home and discovering the neighborhood, which is quiet and spread out, with lots of trees and fun walk/running routes.
Not long after we moved in, we had house guests... my parents and my sister were here for a couple of days over Mother's Day weekend. As usual, I was tending to the business of boys, so I didn't get to take as many photos as I'd like, so some of these I stole from my sister's page.
This is Aaron awaiting their arrival. The skylight is too much for him to bear in the morning, so he wears sunglasses while eating breakfast.
Baby Adam, so photogenic...
Lunch time.
That Saturday night we ventured out to a new restaurant for a Mother's Day dinner... (Jenny is holding a photo of my brother Matt, who regrettably is not exactly within driving distance so he could not join us).
We had yet to set up the deluxe RV site for my parents... so they could not run their air conditioning in their motor home, so they bunked with Jenny in the house, amidst piles of boxes. it was a genuine sleep over. For reasons unknown, they all had the giggles.
More of my littlest handsome man.
That next morning we video-chatted with Matt and Fi, who were in London at the time.
We made some attempt to show them the house using the webcam. It was probably just frustrating on the other end, but better than nothing, as they will likely not get to visit in the flesh for many months.
A quick photo with my sister before she headed back up north...
Our children always look so huge when my mother holds them... Baby Adam is already more than half her size.
