Homeschooling with a baby

I have an all new respect for the many homeschooling families that we know who have lots of kids. At some point they were probably homeschooling their older ones while tending to a baby. I always assumed it would be a very delicate balancing act and have its fair share of bumps and hurdles. We've just completed our first week and I grossly underestimated the challenge. But, that's what we signed on for - and in the long run, this season is very short and thankfully both of the boys are young and still in their forgiving years. 

I enjoy seeing all of the "first day of school" pictures that now litter my Facebook feed at the start of the year. Everyone looks so cute and made up. Ours is a different perspective and we tend to relish in the fact that messy hair is normal and clothing, well, it is just required.

This is Adam's first year to "formally" school... so he's in an adjustment phase.

Daddy calls this "homeschool hair." Really it's just bedhead mixed with a long overdue haircut.

The heat doesn't phase any of my three boys. The smaller two were taking a yogurt squeeze break here.

And then it was back to the business of play: today - transferring part of their junkyard to the front yard and pretending it was a fort to protect the house from passing cars.
