Easter, day trips and a crazy dog

Knowing the weather forecast looked grim for Easter Sunday, we held our egg hunt the day before. It was a smaller one, in hopes to keep their attention for the duration. It was just enough. The cool breeze added a nice touch as well...

On Easter Sunday we braved the grumpy weather for our normal church service then came home and relaxed. That afternoon Alan had an itching to make a fire on the patio so we cooked hot dogs over the fire on April 5th... a pretty nice Easter feast if you ask me. Perhaps we'll have to make this a tradition...

I just think this photo is funny. He was on the phone with his Granny, telling her about the egg hunt and some other things. He was using his hands and had a very serious look on his face the whole time.

Our six month old puppy, Aspen, has developed quite the mouthy attitude. It is fun because she is starting to remind me a bit of our first dog, Graycie... who was also very mouthy. I've put together a couple of clips of her recent activity...

On Monday, April 6th we went to the Fredericksburg area for an adventure and to look at the wildflowers. These came from this perfect patch somewhere along 290...

Next we went to the Wildseed Farm. They always have extensive fields planted this time of year and it's just a cool place that we enjoy. There's usually wide open spaces too, where the boys can run around... 

Don't laugh... this is key to our survival on road trip days.

They have bluebonnets in several colors there.

On the way home we went a different route, taking a detour to see the Willow City Loop road, which is known for bluebonnets. It was quite something. Unfortunately it was also quite busy... so if you go that way, we recommend an early morning drive. The cliff views and scenery alone would make it worth the trip, then add in the perpetual bluebonnets and it was slightly unbelievable.
