February: Birthdays #2 and #3

Before we go any further... Aspen was making a suspicious noise one morning while we were eating breakfast, so I sent Aaron in to investigate. "Mama, she brought a whole plant inside." I thought he meant she uprooted a plant and brought it inside. Nope, she felt that this potted plant (awaiting a permanent home) looked better inside the house. I would have loved to see her haul that through the dog door.

Aaron Joseph's 7th birthday came on Sunday, February 8th, 2015. We decided not to have a gathering/party this year, so each boy got to choose something special to do to celebrate his birthday. Aaron's fell on Daddy's work shift so that night we made English muffin pizzas (his choice) and we postponed the official celebration for the next day when Alan was off.

Aaron wanted to go to the Cameron Park Zoo for his birthday outing. Thankfully the weather was perfect. To add to that there was only about eight cars in the parking lot when we arrived... we nearly had the zoo to ourselves.

The otter slide is always a hit. Sadly, the otters were sunbathing and were not interested in playing, but that didn't stop the boys.

We had to overhaul a valentine's cake. There was a shortage of blank cookie cakes at HEB. He was pleased though, so that's all that counts.

This one was having trouble sitting still and watching. It was the first time in his life that we chose to split up their birthday celebrations. He would have to wait four days and that was just too much to bear.

The next day we picked up some pizza and took it to Lake Georgetown for a dinner picnic...

The little princess got to come along. She was surprisingly tolerant of her temporary tie down, despite the look on her face. 

After they finished eating we walked along the water and threw rocks, which is a very serious task for a real boy.

Aspen got her first taste of water... outside the bowl or bathtub. The water was a tad chilly, so thankfully her instincts kicked in as expected and she survived her first swimming lesson...

Adam Christopher's 5th birthday was on Thursday, February 12th. He wanted to go to the Lego store and since the closest one is at Barton Creek Square Mall, we headed south...

Then back home to open a few presents...

(A really) Big 5 year old. Our baby is 5 years old!

A gift from across the pond.

That weekend my parents came up and brought the gift they made for the boys. Last year they brought the truck and this year they surprised us with a matching trailer.... 

It's pretty awesome. Grandpa and Grandma original.

Grandpa got bombarded with board games. He hung in there for a long time.
