Party at the Park!

We had a joint birthday celebration a couple of weeks ago for the boys. They said they wanted to have their party at a park and there needed to be a playground. Other requirements, Aaron requested a cookie cake that he could help decorate, and Adam selected a car cake mold and asked for a "car cake."
The soon to be three and five year olds.

So with those things in mind and a good amount of faith in the current weather patterns, I booked a pavilion at one of their favorite parks and made the arrangements...
Aaron helped me decorate his (purchased) cookie cake.

Adam's took a little more work, but we made it happen.
We had to do a little reconnaissance at the park to make sure we had everything we needed. So we stopped to visit the donkeys before we left.

The morning of the party, family started to arrive, starting with Grandma and Grandpa...
We went to the park a bit early and had a pizza lunch with our family. Then work began on constructing the boys' new kite...

Stop for a chat with Granny.
Still working (the photos are out of order a bit, the kite only took a couple of minutes).
Aunt Jenny was taking some photos as well, she has a soft spot for the photogenic Adam Christopher.
More chasing.
Grandpa and Aaron exploring the creek.
The kite goes up!
Aunt Amy, Addy and Adam watching. I think that is Uncle Barrett in the background playing football.
From here on out the photos are a bit out of order and there are too many to try to remedy that. We played on the playground and then more friends came to play as well. Then we had some cake and played a little bit more. We were at the park that day for quite a while and the weather was perfect and the company sweet. It was a really special day.

Spectators: Barrett, Jenny, and Grandpa.
The menfolk chatting, and swinging.
The boys' cakes.
Aaron has always had an aversion to "Happy Birthday" when sung to him. He managed not to crawl under the table but he did sit statue-like until the pain was over. Check out Adam's face in this photo.
Aunt Jenny at the helm again. He's got her wrapped up. :)
Jessica and Zak.
Aaron enjoying a rare opportunity to eat decent amounts of sweet things.
Hmm, more photos of Adam being cute... ?
He does love cake. Come to think of it, food in general.
Mama and the birthday boys.
They were plotting some sort of pretend scheme.

More kite work. The wind was hit and miss.
Members of our party were spread all over the place.

Just before we left, the boys opened their gifts from Granny and Pa...

Here's a video of cake and playing...

When we got home they opened their gifts from Aunt Jenny and Uncle Barrett...
And hung out with Grandma and Grandpa in their motor home...
