Georgetown Air Fest 2012

Saturday, November 3 was the second annual Georgetown Air Fest. It was a muggy, foggy morning which hindered some of the planes from arriving on time, but for a free event with things that the boys love... it was still quite enjoyable. The weather also squashed a hot air balloon launch of about six balloons. Thankfully one of the teams stayed and displayed their basket and blew their torch a few times (see video below).

We arrived early to see the hometown B-25 Devil Dog surrounded by a small car show, an added bonus.

 This is the C-47 Southern Cross, also known as the Skytrain for the number of passengers it could carry. This C-47 was built in 1941 for service in World War II. They were offering rides for $50.

This is a MI-24 Hind attack helicopter that was in service in Bulgaria in the 1980's. It now finds its permanent home at the Cold War Air Museum in Lancaster, Texas. It was there last year and we saw it at the Temple Air Show as well. Still neat to see though.

Adam isn't allowed out of his stroller too often in environments like this. We are just testing the water a little bit here and there to see if he can handle it without running off, hurting himself, or someone else. He's a bit of a giant goober and brute rolled into one. So, he was dancing and hopping most of the morning, especially every time the hot air balloon fired up, he would yell, "Fire! We're going to get burned!" Here's a brief clip of him being a goober....

The L-39 Albatros is a Czech trainer that was built in the 1970's and in service in the Bulgarian Air Force. This is also from the above mentioned Cold War Air Museum. It arrived a bit late, probably due to weather, and as we were watching the C-47 take off for its first ride of the morning this L-39 did a very low flyby and came in out of nowhere. I think we caught it on one of the videos.

On the schedule that day was one flying performance. It was quite delayed, thanks to the weather, but right as we were leaving we caught them coming in and making rounds.... Here's a quick look at the Falcon Flight Flying Team...
