Bouncing Eight Month Old

Tomorrow Aaron will be eight months old. Some of his new favorite things are cocking his head (ear on shoulder) and looking at things from a slightly different angle. He has a new obsession with tags on clothing, towels, blankets, etc. He likes to flick them back and forth and then try to put them in his mouth. Aaron's motor-boating is making a comeback, only this time it has evolved into a much louder, wetter process that makes him laugh. Yep - he is making himself laugh now.

Aaron is very close to outgrowing his bouncy seat - which makes me sad because it is so handy. He has figured out how to bounce himself and for a while would just use one swinging leg to get it going. Now he does a modified donkey kick and bottoms out on every bounce. Here is a short video montage of him playing in his seat over the past week, and yes, I am well aware that in every clip he is wearing, just a diaper.

Eating... he has thus far tackled: rice cereal, bananas, peaches, sweet potatoes, avocado, mango, and oatmeal. Next up: peas! He is now eating two different foods at each meal and does a respectable job cleaning his plate.

Clothing... In most brands he currently wears 12 month clothes, with the exception of Gerber (which I am convinced runs quite small), in which he wears 18 months. In the way of accessories, I am outfitting him as best I can - boys don't have as many options. He has a new baseball hat that he wears on our walks each day and yesterday his new glasses came in... they are so cute - look just like his Daddy's. Although they are still a little big, I am trying to get him used to wearing them.
The other night after a bath I let him try on his bath robe from when he was a little baby. Although it says 0-9 months, it fits more like a t-shirt now. Add some sweat pants and he could be a boxer. It was funny, so we documented...

Talking... a couple of days ago we had an unofficial first "dada." We were sitting in the garage as Alan finished some projects and Aaron was playing with the tag on the camp chair. It was very peaceful and quiet, neither of us were addressing Aaron at the time and he, out of the blue and clear as ever said "dada." We are calling it unofficial because he hasn't repeated it since and doesn't seem too interested in language development. So for now we have new baby sounds, old baby sounds at increased volumes, and some occasional happy screaming.

Teeth... six full, one more peaking through. Speaking of teeth... couple of goobers just relaxing...

In other news, Aaron received a fantastic gift from Grandma Kohl this week... his Christmas stocking. I will take a picture soon of him next to it so you can get a feel for its size... it has his name and a cute juggling snowman embroidered on the front.
