Quick trip to Gillett

Our close family friends have a ranch in Gillett, Texas (about a two hour drive, southeast, from here) that we like to go down to from time to time. It is wide open for boy play and we can help out with some of the ranch jobs too.
We spent a good deal of time relaxing on the big front porch.
And hiking around in the woods in search of interesting things. (My boys plus Grandpa).
My parents came down too for a little while and played around...
Grandma and Adam watching the fires.
Aaron found a good spot.
One of the jobs was burning brush piles from the cleared grass fields. Alan has a new apprentice... Grandpa might take up wild land firefighting as his second career.

Adam and I shuttled drinks and hats and people back up to the house.
Following my boys around in the woods.
Readying the .22.
Shooting water. It's amazing.
And whenever we couldn't find the boys they were in what they called the "cattle squeezer." They love that thing... all the levers and doors and gates. We are quite lucky everyone walked away with the correct number of limbs and digits. Aaron would later ask if we could get one for the backyard.
At one point Alan took Adam out for an ATV ride and took this video. Adam was in complete control of the throttle and steering. I'm kind of glad I wasn't watching this take place. Scary. Listen to how excited Adam is about it... and yes, they were going pretty fast.
