Quick trip to Belton

The boys and I drove to the Temple-Belton area the first week of June to visit a school friend of mine who was about to have her third baby. They live in Belton, which is only about thirty-five minutes from here. I don't have any photos of my boys playing with her two boys, but by the end of the short visit, they had covered the living room with wooden train tracks and Aaron and Adam were fascinated by their collection of Thomas-related paraphernalia. My friend, Amy and her new baby, Emma, are doing great and we'll probably go back up for a visit in a couple of months... so I will definitely take some photos. 


The blog-worthy part of that trip came on the way home. We stopped at Stillhouse Hollow Lake Park to eat our lunch. We have been wanting to check out more of the parks within driving distance, so this one was on the list to see. It had a nice view of the lake, but the park itself served mainly as an entry point to Stillhouse Hollow Lake, and it lacked any frills. It did have a nice picnic table for us to use and a little playground for the boys to burn some energy on before finishing our drive home.

On the way south we exited I-35 to drive through Salado, a little town about twenty miles north of Georgetown. I've heard of this town several times and looked it up online a few times. But the internet pictures don't do it justice. It is a cute little town full of shops, galleries, tree-lines streets, and country inns. It doesn't really seem like a town you would find in the middle of Texas. It merits another visit, perhaps when my mother or sister come to town.
