A Family Fourth

My brother Matt and his girlfriend Fi, flew into town on Wednesday of last week. My sister and her husband were also in town for the weekend. So there was quite a bit going on. Unfortunately, due to scheduling and naps and such, we did not get to participate in most of the activities, but I was able to get a few pictures of our happenings.

On Friday night my mom and brother grilled huge quantities of hamburger and fish and fed the multiple families that were over for the evening.

Here are the guys planning their next Yosemite adventure. I think they had it nailed down by the end of the night. Anything that calls for three grown men to sit this closely on a couch must be serious business.

I had more than a few helpers ready to take my precious little man off my hands. Jenny and Kathy kept him occupied before dinner was ready.
My brother's patriotic cake.
Those willing to brave the heat... Matt and Fi, Patrick and Robin (down from Austin to see Matt), and Jenny and Barrett.
We met Fi for the first time on Wednesday night. Aaron recognized that she was a "stranger" and gave her nothing but his usual stand-off-ish grumpy faces. Then about two hours into our visit he started loosening up and by the end of the night he was fierce competition for his Uncle Matt. So, we thought before she left, we should get a picture of the two of them together. Well it seems that he would rather just grin, stare, and flash her "eyes" from across the room, and was too embarrassed to get his picture taken with her. Its okay Little Man, you've got a few years to work on your moves.
My parents have had this miniature chair for as long as I can remember. It is the perfect size for Aaron to back up and sit down, just as an adult would in the large version. Many times during our visits over the weekend if we couldn't find him he was sitting quietly in the corner of the room, in his new found chair. Here is the family (minus a few) outside on Sunday watching Matt and Barrett ride a fancy skateboard.

Aaron has always enjoyed pretend driving my dad's Jeep. I finally got a little documentation...
